Natural acting, social media or attention to detail: What's the secret behind the popularity of Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum?

The Pakistani drama 'Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum', whose last episode aired on Tuesday night, is currently the topic of discussion on social media across Pakistan, including across the border..

In the meantime, viewers of the drama continued to speculate about the final scene of the ARY Digital-presented episode.

The popularity of Pakistani actors Fahad Mustafa and Hania Aamir, who portrayed Mustafa and Sharjeena in this drama, is evident from its 9.6 rating on YouTube. There are over a billion views so far.

At the same time, 'Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum' has been among the top trends on social media in Bangladesh and India as well. Why did this play receive such widespread acceptance? To find out, we spoke to Amna Haider Isani, a keen observer of art and culture.

He asserts that 'Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum' possesses all the necessary elements to predict its success as a drama. However, she must admit that she was unaware of the play's potential for such success.

According to Amina, the main reason for the success of the drama is the popularity of Fahad and Haniya and their acting skills.

She goes on to say that "this drama has brought Fahad Mustafa back to the TV screen after a long absence." In addition to their popularity among the public, Fahad and Haniya Aamir are also highly skilled actors.

The viewers have loved the on-screen pairing of Fahad and Hania. Besides Fahad and Hania, this drama also features many other prominent figures.

An experienced writer like Farhat Ishtiaq has written the script while the drama is produced under the banner of Fahad Mustafa's own production house.

Its focus on small things, according to Amna, makes this play popular.

For example, when Mustafa and Sharjeena move into their own separate house, that apartment also becomes an important part of the play. They introduce small elements into the house, such as planting plants, bringing in furniture, hanging pictures, and installing lamps.

The viewers' attention was primarily focused on the constantly changing map of his house.

This drama has flooded almost all social media platforms with posts, an unusual level of interest for any drama.

According to Amna, Hania Aamir and Fahad Mustafa were instrumental in making this play a topic of conversation on social media.

Whenever there was a new episode of this drama, Hania or Fahad would leave a joke on social media and give all the users a new reason to talk.

Now that the drama is over, the viewers are looking a little sad. "This is the last chapter of Sharjeena and Mustafa's journey, but their love story will continue to inspire us for a long time," wrote a user on X.

Following the announcement that the final episode of this drama will air in various cinemas across Pakistan, an Indian social media user wrote, 'We kindly request all Pakistanis who plan to watch 'Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum' in theatres to do so.' They should send our love and best wishes to Fahad, Haniya, and the entire drama team from across the border.

It would be unfair to discuss the play's music without discussing it.

During a conversation with BBC Urdu, Amina said that 'the soundtrack of Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum has also played a huge role in the popularity of the drama.'

Usually a single song is composed for Pakistani dramas, but an entire album of this drama was released, containing four to five songs.

The Pakistani music band 'Aur' provides the soundtrack for the drama, and famous Lahore singer Zeeshan Ali sings the recently released song 'Sajna Da Dil Saadiya'.

'It's a straightforward love story with no big twists,' says Amina. Conversations are in simple language.  The amalgamation of these elements transformed this play into an exceptional narrative.

It is noteworthy that Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum has mesmerized audiences worldwide with its captivating plot and brilliant performances.  The show has maintained high ratings throughout its run, giving viewers a lot to learn from Sharjeena and Mustafa's intense charm.
